Supporting Emerging Writers

The City of Literature Trust is committed to supporting and encouraging Edinburgh’s writers.

To help the city’s emerging writers, we provide resources, a full guide to literary events in Edinburgh, an annual opportunity to perform at the Edinburgh International Book Festival with Story Shop, and a year-round networking base with our Literary Salon.

Story Shop

Story Shop is a project we run every year to support Edinburgh's emerging writers.

Every year, we are inundated with applications to take part. We choose the best writers to represent Edinburgh on the exciting stage of the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

Writers are given voice and performance training, given an afternoon in the fabulous Spiegeltent to perform their story, and finally, invited to the New Writer's Salon to network.

It is an invaluable experience for new writers, and a brilliant showcase of Edinburgh literature. Read more
