The Scottish Storytelling Centre on the Royal Mile opened to the public in May 2006, giving a beautiful and contemporary focus to the recent renaissance the ancient artform of storytelling has been enjoying in Scotland. Housing a theatre, exhibitions and a welcoming cafe, it's a lovely spot to stop and soak up some of the literary culture present in Edinburgh.
The Storytelling Centre now acts as a central point for information about Scotland's stories: you can book your own storyteller, or you can attend one of the many events held at, or run by, the Centre. From storytelling sessions in the cafe to afternoons of tales and songs, there is plenty to choose from - just check the What's On overview of their upcoming events, or visit the Centre's Events page directly.
