Something of the sort is to be seen in Salisbury Crags at Edinburgh. ... 'It was on that, ' said Professor Challenger, pointing to the tree, 'that the pterodactyl was perched. I climbed halfway up the rock before I shot him.'

What’s It All About?

Kidnapped - When Kilts Were Banned
A Specimen is a 45-minute dramatisation of Stevenson’s story Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and it will be hosted at arts centres and schools across the city during February 2008.

The performance involves just two actors, with minimal props and costume. It has been scripted by Donald Smith, Director of the Scottish Storytelling Centre, and developed in conjunction with City of Literature Trust to support the Edinburgh citywide reading campaign. This is a simple, striking and stylish re-telling of a classic story, bringing it alive for new audiences.

Note: the performance is not recommended for young people under 11 years of age.

4-6pm Waterstones, 13-14 Princes Street (East End)

There will be an instore taster performance of the play during the book signing event by comic book legends Cam Kennedy and Alan Grant, Last year the Kidnapped - When Kilts were Banned performance startled the signature hunters, and halted the signing event in its tracks, twice. The players were well received wherever they went, so don't miss this opportunity to catch them in a relaxed public atmosphere. And even better, it is free, but they'll start whenever they'll fancy it, so come early.
