It seemed as if the rock and castle assumed a new aspect every time I looked at them; and Arthurs Seat was perfect witchcraft. I don't wonder that anyone residing in Edinburgh should write poetically.

The Author

Edinburgh-born Arthur Conan Doyle is best known for creating the world's most famous detective - Sherlock Holmes.  He was a prolific writer, and in 1912 published The Lost World, a tale of dinosaurs and exploration.  It has spawned many film adaptations, and is considered to be the inspiration behind Jurassic Park.

The Story

Investigative journalist Ed Malone joins a band of explorers sent to South America to prove that deep in the jungle there is a forgotten world where dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals still survive. What do they find - and will they make it home to tell the tale?  It's the first Conan Doyle story featuring the larger-than-life Professor Challenger.
