Let’s Get Lyrical
is a celebration of the song lyrics.
In February 2011 Edinburgh and Glasgow united by more than just a railway line as the Let's Get Lyrical campaign asked both cities to take a fresh look at the most musical form of the written word – song lyrics.
We launched our Let’s Get Lyrical bookmarks and wallet cards throughout Edinburgh and Glasgow which could be picked up from libraries, community centres and cafes, getting us in the mood for words, books and music.
With over 80 events spread across both cities, the campaign got people reading, writing, creating and talking about song lyrics. But, it's not too late to join in!
Online

Don't worry if you missed out on the excitment of February. We still have plenty of shiny new things happening in our Let's Get Lyrical website – podcasts, audioboos, our playlists and reading lists.
We still want you to share your favourite song lyric and the story behind them. New stories are added regularly to the Lyrical Stories section of our website so have a read and remember to come back to see what’s happening.
Let's Get Lyrical offers everyone the chance to share their story and uncover their own love of song lyrics, as well as news, views and celebrity contributions from authors and songwriters.
Events

If you managed to make it along to one of our 80 events throughout Edinburgh and Glasgow, you would have had the chance to celebrate song lyrics with us. Whether it was Dylan lyrics you wanted to hear, rap that you wanted to experiment with, disco lectures that you felt drawn to or our mysterious Lyrical Death Match, there was sure to be a lyric-inspired event to suit you.
Have a look at our Edinburgh events programme to get an idea of some of the exciting things that were going on in the city throughout February.
You’re not too late to tell us about the lyrics you love. Have a look at our Lyric Stories page and share your own story with us.
Send Us Your Stories

Let's Get Lyrical is gathering momentum – tell us what song lyric you love and the story why – by filling in the form on the campaign site, which also gives the submission guidelines and conditions, or by emailing story@letsgetlyrical.com.
