There are a number of organisations and projects based in Edinburgh that work with the City of Literature Trust to further our international work. Their focus includes representing Edinburgh in a global context in the areas of literature and creative industries.

The British Council connects people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK and builds lasting relationships between the UK and other countries. They manage a wide range of activity in the arts and creative industries, and by attending readings of Scottish writers select the most appropriate events for international tours. Whether you write fiction or poetry, criticism or drama, crime fiction or travel they are interested in hearing from you. They have been involved with the City of Literature Trust on a number of projects, including the British Council Showcase and the introduction of new poems to their website.

Edinburgh World Heritage was created in 1999 to champion the World Heritage Site designations awarded to the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh by UNESCO. Their main roles are to protect and enhance the World Heritage Site through the management plan; conserve and enhance the Site through a programme of conservation funding; and to build awareness and promote understanding of the Site.

The Scottish Arts Council is the lead body for the funding, development and advocacy of the arts in Scotland. They aim to know and compare attitudes towards and practice in the arts in different countries, to build an international network of partnerships to promote and develop the work of Scottish artists and arts organisations, and to offer opportunities for Scottish audiences to enjoy the work of international artists.

The Scottish Centre of International PEN is part of international writers' association with Centres worldwide. Membership is open to those professionally engaged in writing who subscribe to their aims: the International PEN Charter calls for better understanding and respect among nations through friendly co-operation between writers in the interests of freedom of expression throughout the world.
