Edinburgh author, Irvine Welsh, kicked off the first mile of the Hoof it to Hyderabad walking challenge today.
Scottish charity, Scottish Love in Action, have set up the Hoof it to Hyderabad Challenge to invite people to help them virtually walk the 5000 miles (12,106,000 steps) from Scotland to Hyderabad in India. Their aim is to raise money in support of the Girl’s Lives Matter appeal.
Welsh helped launch the fundraiser’s registration at the Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, before setting off down the Royal Mile. He has been a long-term ambassador of SLA, and has talked about why he supports the work they carry out as a charity in the past.
The challenge is set to take place during the month of June 2017, and the SLA invite you to walk, run or cycle a minimum of 10km or 15,133 as a way of contributing towards their aim to walk the equivalent distance from Scotland to Hyderabad. If you are interested in taking part, you can download the information and sponsorship sheet over on the SLA website here.
