Rare Books Edinburgh is a new festival celebrating rare, antiquarian and collectable books from all over the UK. Featuring a series of talks, exhibitions, tours, and more, the 10-days of celebrating run from 20-30 March.
The festival centers around the annual Edinburgh Book Fair, which which takes place on 24-25 March. Talks cover topics such as the history of the book and engraving, alongside enthusiastic literary scholars exploring their latest research. Also on display are collections not usually shown to the public, providing the perfect opportunity to learn more about rare and collectable books.
The Book Fair (kicking off on the 24 March), will be opened by Ian Rankin OBE, creator of Inspector Rebus. The Fair sees booksellers from all over the UK coming together to celebrate the importance of rare books, with Edinburgh’s own booksellers taking part, such as The Old Town Bookshop and Peter Bell Books.
A programme of the events spanning the course of the Festival is available on the Rare Books Edinburgh website.
