The Scottish Poetry Library is looking for a Programme Manager to start in Spring 2012. Those interested in joining this dynamic organisation and who are keen to help fulfil the SPL's aim of bringing people and poetry together, will find application details below.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • to develop and manage the SPL's events strategy
  • to create and manage an events programme that is accessible and attractive to a diverse audience, from initiation through to evaluation, including budget management and events logistics
  • networking and developing relationships with a range of writers, artists and speakers to ensure a strong programme
  • to collaborate with other organisations to bring poetry to a wider audience
  • to create and edit weekly podcasts for the broadcast programme, in association with other members of staff
  • to manage the marketing of the programme, through print and social media
  • to support the Friends scheme and fundraising activity
  • to manage venue hire

Other essential skills required are:

  • Broad knowledge of poetry and the literary environment
  • Experience of creating and managing events for a range of audiences
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management
  • Strong budgeting skills
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through with care

Other desirable experience:

  • Podcasting experience
  • Marketing experience
  • Experience of chairing events
  • Social media skills

Salary:  £20,000 per annum starting salary
