The Scottish Book Trust seek a PR Manager
Full Time, Maternity Cover – 6 months From July to December 2012
Salary: £25,000 p.a., pro rata for a 6 month appointment

Scottish Book Trust is the leading agency for the promotion of literature in Scotland, developing innovative projects to encourage adults and children to read, write and be inspired by books.
This is a temporary position to cover the duties of our PR Manager during maternity leave.
The post will include strategic and tactical press duties for a major reader development project taking place in November as well as ongoing press support across all of Scottish Book Trust’s programmes.
The post calls for an enthusiastic and creative person who has experience in media relations in Scotland, preferably within an arts organisation. You will have the ability to work independently, be highly organised and able to meet strict deadlines. Principal Duties
Coordinate, manage and implement a comprehensive media campaign for a major national reader development project. Create and maximise press and PR opportunities for SBT, especially in relation to the reader development project. Work with programme managers to secure media coverage for specific events, as required. Maintain SBT’s media list and keep in touch with key journalists incl. through social media Ensure that our brand and ethos are communicated effectively to new and existing audiences, the media and to stakeholders. Deal promptly and effectively with requests for response, research, quotes, photos, interviews and information from media contacts. Maintain a press cuttings archive; process, evaluate and file all press cuttings.
Person specification – you will have or be
Significant, demonstrable and relevant experience of working in PR and media, ideally in an arts, literature or education sector An established network of journalist contacts in Scotland Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience of using social media for press and PR work
Strong writing skills Educated to degree level
The post is based at Scottish Book Trust offices in Edinburgh.
The job description also includes any other duties which may be incidental to the above duties but which are necessary to meet the demands of the employer and Scottish Book Trust business.
Appointment will be conditional on securing Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance.
