Did not such strong connections draw me elsewhere, I believe Scotland would be the Country I should chuse to spend the Remainder of my Days in.

Benjamin Franklin, on visiting Edinburgh

What's your literary moment?

Date Posted:

(15 June 2012)

Over at the English Literature department of the University of Edinburgh this year they've been celebrating their 250th birthday. As part of those celebrations, they'd like Edinburgh University alumni to tweet them a top literary moment.

The best 140 character submission, judged by Current Regius Professor Greg Walker will win the James Tait Black fiction shortlist. Result!

In 140 characters or fewer can you describe the literary moment in Edinburgh that most changed your ideas and way of thinking?

Tweet yours to @EdinburghAlumni or email them at alumni@ed.ac.uk

You can also enter by SMS. Text your response to +44 7950 081379. Please include EngLit250 in your response so they can filter out your entry.

And you don't have to be an English Literature graduate to enter. The competition is open to all Edinburgh Alumni.

The closing date for entries is Friday 29th June 2012. The best submissions will be published on the website and included in the July Alumni & Friends newsletter.
