The American Library Association just published a list of graphic novels suitable for teenagers, chosen by a committee of librarians, and Forbidden Planet bookshop is always happy to make recommendations.

Reading Support

Have a look at ReadTogether - it's full of great reading ideas for parents, teachers and children, featuring reading champions from the worlds of sport, literature and television.

The Literacy Trust website is full of links to major reading initiatives and organisations, divided up into relevant age groupings, while Scottish Book Trust runs a number of schemes to promote literature.  Learning Teaching Scotland has clear infomation about schools, literacy and the national curriculum, while The Reading Agency has UK-wide updates about reading projects and resources.

There are also the national reading initiatives RaW, the BBC's Reading and Writing campaign, and The Big Plus, which highlights learning opportunities for all abilities.
