Edinburgh’s ‘Literature Quarter’ is a powerful and wonderful force for literary greatness in Edinburgh, made up of the Scottish Storytelling Centre, the Scottish Book Trust, and the Scottish Poetry Library.
The Storytelling CentreThe Storytelling Centre hothouses traditional storytellers in Scotland, providing a full training program and nurturing Scottish stories and tellers, in Scots, Gaelic and English. Here you’ll find tales you won’t find anywhere else in the world, and nothing equals the pleasure of experiencing stories, ‘eye to eye, mind to mind, heart to heart.’ The venue was designed and built with the acoustics of storytelling in mind, making the Netherbow one of the most fantastic little theatres in Scotland.
The Scottish Poetry LibraryHere you’ll find every poem ever published in Scotland, in a variety of tongues. This beautiful little purpose-built venue also contains international texts, and is the place to go to find out where the nearest live poetry event is happening.
The Scottish Book TrustThis is the educational hub of literature in Scotland. The Scottish Book Trust has a program of educational programs for schools, provides writer support in the form of mentoring, advice and workshops, and runs amazing events throughout Scotland for people of all ages to get involved with reading and writing.
