Canongate Stars and Stories is a new illuminated walking trail for Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Explore 20 beautiful light boxes displaying quotations which shine a light on the print and publishing history of the Canongate area.

If you want to see them all, you can find your way around with a map which you can either download here, or pick up at any of the sites on the trail.

Just keep an eye out on your atmospheric winter evening walks when you head down the Royal Mile from the Tron towards Holyrood Palace. Don’t forget to look up and dive into the side streets.

iPhone users can download the Edinburgh World Heritage app from the iTunes store for more information. It also includes a Stars and Stories quiz to test your literary knowledge!

It takes 45 leisurely minutes to walk the trail and explore all 20 locations.

Leaflets with Maps at the Venues

It’s getting dark, so you’ll be pleased to know that the leaflets that contain some background info to the quotations are available from most venues that have the illuminated quotes on display. They also contain a mini-map that will help you find the others!

The Lights Go On

Tonight the light boxes will be switched on.
