Once more World Book Day is upon us. This year it celebrates its 20th anniversary on 2nd March, celebrating the work of authors and illustrators, as well as books and reading for young people. Taking place over 100 countries, it is easily the biggest celebration of reading in the world, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of all things books and reading.
So if you love reading – or you hope to pass your love of reading onto someone else – this is the perfect day to do it. The aim of World Book Day is ‘to turn millions of kids into millions of readers’ and everyone under the age of 18 in the UK gets a book for £1 – visit the main World Book Day website to claim one for your young readers. Also featured on the site are a host of resources including lesson plans, activity sheets, and discussion guides. Best of all, these resources can be used all year round.
